More than twenty-five years experience as a vegetarian chef.

 

I have honed my craft at:

  • The Naam Restaurant, the oldest and most famous vegetarian restaurant on the west coast. I cooked and baked there for ten years.
  • Hollyhock Farms, known internationally for its great vegetarian food, abundant garden and its wilderness surroundings.
  • The Mint Restaurant, the first restaurant in Victoria, Britsh Columbia, to offer traditional Nepalese cuisine.
  • NJoy catering known especially for its Middle Eastern food and excellent service.
  • Sea to Sky Retreat Centre, Whistler British Columbia, with its spectacular mountain wilderness surroundings. I planned and created meals that nourish the body, mind and spirit.

Philosophy

Five Elements draws its name from two Asian traditions which influence Sonja’s cooking: Tibetan Buddhism and Traditional Chinese Medicine.

I try whenever possible to use organics and locally sourced ingredients.
